To God Be the Glory Ministries, Inc. Supports the Amber Alert System
.
Dear Bro. James, Just wanted to give God the glory for the great things He has done. To God Be The Glory Ministries, Inc. Maryland has just received it's first donations. And what a blessing it was. Exceedingly, abundantly more than we expected. Living Waters Family Outreach director Bonnie Ruff is overwhelmed with God's goodness to the hungry that they minister to. We are looking forward to even greater things in the days to come. We have been accepted by CCMAD Ministries, (A Can Can Make A Difference) has accepted TGBTG as one they will make donations to. We are awaiting word from some other corporations. Vernette Abrahams Maryland Director The following article is reprinted with the permission of the Poughkeepsie Journal, Poughkeepise, New York
Tuesday, February 27, 2007 "We're getting this ball rolling," Dan Norris, formerly of Poughkeepsie and now a resident of Melbourne, Fla., told me last week. Before he moved south last fall, Norris was a disc jockey for a Poughkeepsie radio station. But his real passion was volunteering for the To God be the Glory Food Pantry, founded about 20 years ago by City of Poughkeepsie resident Cortland James. Norris handled some of the public relations chores for the group, and he also solicited food from local supermarkets and ferried the donations to food banks in Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, Orange and Sullivan counties. He said when he moved to Florida last October, James encouraged him to continue the group's mission there. "He kept telling me there was always a need for someone who knew how to do what I'd been doing up in Poughkeepsie," Norris said. "So I met with some people who run a food pantry down here, and I learned there was certainly a need for what we do. There are more than 2,500 homeless people in Melbourne."
To God Be the Glory is supporting Norris' new mission in Florida by linking the two communities on
www.GetUpAndFeedTheHungry.org Using the links on this site, you can keep track of what organizations here - and people in Melbourne - are doing to help those in need. Soon, the site will be equipped with a "Pay Pal" account that will enable you to make a donation. Norris said he was glad to have found a way to stay connected with his former community while helping folks in his new one. "Cortland James' goal is simple: getting food to as many people as possible with as little red tape as possible," he said. "It's always been his dream to take this project nationwide," Norris said. "And we're not going to stop there. We're going global."
